Vocational training services. A 5 year period with 2 option years contract for the provision of academic support services to the Royal Air Force. The academic service provider will be required to support the education of RAF officers and airmen principally through involvement in the delivery of courses that constitute the RAF Professional Military Development (Air) through-service programme of education in air power studies and leadership. Activity under this requirement will take place primarily at the RAF College Cranwell, the Air Warfare Centre RAF Cranwell and at RAF Halton, with students engaged through both residential and distance learning. The requirement includes the provision of: — Core services are the services directly related to the delivery of the professional military development (air) courses, — Elements inclusive in the core services are lectures, syndicates, advice to students, production of course notes and lesson plans, essay marking, essay setting, review boards, remedial tuition, student mentoring, course reviews, tutorials, distance learning tutor support and distance learning student administration, — Design and development of any element current and future course, — Academic advice to the Royal Air Force (Generic Education & Training Centre). In addition to the provision above supplementary services may also be required: —— Requests for bespoke educational packages or advice to RAF stations or other units in support of Force Development, —— Academic and support to the RAF Centre for air power studies, to be undertaken in consultation with the Department of Defence Studies (RAF), Air Historical Branch and others as appropriate, —— Directed research. The academic team will be expected to reside at RAF Cranwell with facilities provide.
