Provision of Diagnostic Imaging and Orthopaedic Surgery (Musculoskeletal Disorders).

Health services. The Authority has awarded a contract to a Healthcare Provider (HP), to provide a Fast Track diagnostic imaging service and treatment of Service personnel diagnosed with musculo-skeletal disorders to ensure a rapid return to fitness of injured service personnel, within the limits of their injury, thus maximising the clinical outcome for the individual and occupational effectiveness for the Armed Forces. The Contractor will require to support a national network of Rehabilitation Facilities. These include the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC), Epsom, Surrey and 12 Regional Rehabilitation Units (RRUs), located across the United Kingdom, at the following geographical locations: Aldershot – Hampshire, Honington – Suffolk, Lichfield – Staffordshire, Bulford – Wiltshire, Catterick - North Yorkshire, Colchester - Essex, Plymouth – Devon, Sleaford - Lincolnshire, Portsmouth - Hampshire, Barry - Vale of Glamorgan, Aylesbury - Buckinghamshire and Edinburgh. The Contractor shall provide 2 key areas of output; Diagnostic Imaging and Surgical Treatment, detailed as follows: a. RRU Fast Track Diagnostic Imaging b. RRU Fast Track Orthopaedics (i). Diagnostic and therapeutic Arthroscopy/cold orthopaedic surgical intervention. (ii). Accelerated Spinal Pathway. c. Diagnostic Imaging outputs for DMRC The contractor willprovide imaging services and facilities within the geographical areas of the United Kingdom, as detailed above, which meet existing and future Department of Health/NHS policy, embracing National Service Frameworks and Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements concerning the delivery of care. In addition the contractor requires to facilitate the safe and expeditious management of the treatment of Service personnel and liaise with the Service Authorities. The contractor shall require to provide evidence that sound clinical governance procedures are being followed, clinical activity is audited and formal internal and external quality assessments are established practice and are of an approved standard. The contractor shall require to demonstrate to the Authority that robust risk management and business continuity strategies are in place and provide evidence when requested or required. The contractor shall provide performance monitoring data to the Authority within agreed timeframes on a monthly basis. The Authority has placed a single Enabling Contract for the period – 1.11.2012 to 31.3.2015.
