The Council intend to let the above contract for an initial three year term, with facility for a maximum one year extension, subject to rigorous annual satisfaction targets and minimum performance indicators being achieved. Total property portfolio amounts to approximately 300 buildings and addresses with a total 800 000 m sq. floor area. With the current saving and rational plan, this is continually reducing in number. The scope of the contract includes Fixed Electrical Testing and Inspection (not repair) of all the Council's buildings, with reporting in an agreed written format. This will be on the basis of a cost per square metre. Programming of the works will be important, with the need to test school buildings, where time allows over the school holidays, prioritising the senior school first. Some of the public access buildings will need to be tested outside normal hours; however the number of these are as yet to be determined. Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE). The Council envisages that the staff working on the current service shall transfer to the Contractor or its subcontractors, under TUPE along with the Services. These employees are currently employed by the incumbent supplier ('Third Party Employees'). Further information will be provided to the shortlisted candidates at tender stage.
