Railway transport services. This notice involves a part B public services contract (see Section VI.3 below for additional information on the procurement process that will be operated). The DFT is seeking to appoint an appropriately experienced and qualified transport operator to operate the Greater Anglia rail passenger franchise. Expressions of interest are now being sought from the market and shortlisted applicants will receive the invitation to tender planned to be issued in April 2011. It is expected that the winning bidder will be announced in autumn 2011 with the contract commencing in February 2012. The length of the franchise will be a minimum of 1 year and 6 railway periods, with pricing also provided for a potential extension of up to 1 year. The future franchise should have sufficient financial backing to place a performance bond and a season ticket bond. These are expected to be up to 10 000 000 GBP and 50 000 000 GBP respectively.
