Public Space CCTV Cameras and Associated Equipment 2017.

Wirral Council currently operates 112 public space CCTV cameras, mainly using BT RS1000 fibre optic communications. The communications and recording equipment is located in the Community Safety Control Room in Birkenhead, with a remote control room located within the same building used by Traffic Management. A link to the Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Joint Command Centre is also in place enabling control of the 112 cameras by the Police. Funding for the supply and installation of approximately 20 cameras, to replace cameras at existing locations, is provisionally available at the start of this contract.
