Short description of nature and quantity or value of supplies or services: Translink, comprising Ulsterbus Limited and Citybus Limited operating as Metro, provide public transport services in Northern Ireland, into RoI and also GB. There is also a touring operation, based in Belfast and operating into RoI, GB and Europe, comprising 30 vehicles. The fleet currently totals 1 414 vehicles with 1 121 in Ulsterbus, 83 % single deck and 293 in Metro, 42 % single deck. Services include stage carriage, school transport, interurban express and city services There are c. 400 direct maintenance staff, working in a unionised environment. Ulsterbus operates from 16 main depots throughout Northern Ireland ranging in size from 141 vehicles to 32 vehicles, with Metro vehicles operating from 4 depots in the Greater Belfast area. A central maintenance workshop is based in Belfast servicing outlying depots with operational support and parts distribution. Once final project approval is given, Translink will be responsible for operations and vehicle maintenance associated with a brt system in Belfast, which is currently in the procurement phase Fleet mileage is c. 42m. pa. The operation is led by a General Manager, Fleet Engineering, whose responsibilities also include heavy rail, who is supported by a core senior team with local depot management. Fleet procurement, based on a 16 year operating life, is carried out through the Official Journal of the European Union in accordance with the Utilities Regulations 2006, with maintenance and support activities presently delivered in-house. With no volume delivery of new fleet planned before 2017-2018 financial year Translink is undertaking a market engagement to assist in developing its bus fleet procurement strategy for the period 2017-2022. Areas of interest include, Vehicle development, propulsion technologies, soft products, maintenance and support options, on board passenger amenities, strategic manufacturer alliances as well as any other relevant subject which may emerge through the exercise. Parties interested in being involved in this market engagement are invited to register their interest no later than 12:00 on Friday, 16.10.2015 for the attention of the undersigned.
