Development of Titanium-stainless steel rotary friction welding.

The scope of this contract is 1st to demonstrate feasibility and then to qualify the Titanium (Ti) to Stainless Steel joint of the ICH RF vacuum window. Ti was selected as the best material to support the double conical alumina RF windows; Ti must be connected to the SS cooling circuit of the IC system. It is required that the joint between the 2 materials be of a metallurgical nature.
