Prinsens gatee 26 is a townhouse built in 1880-1881 and is located in an area that is regulated for preservation. The building was designed by the architect Henrik Nissen. The Norwegian parliament purchased the townhouse in 1972 and has, from 1978 until the current date used the building for administrative and political functions. The building is old and inappropriate with unsatisfactory security, lay-out and technical standard. In addition there are problems with alum slates in the ground that swell and inflict damage on foundations and supporting constructions. The Norwegian parliament has therefore decided that the building shall be completely renovated. See the qualification documents for further details on the contract.
