North Ayrshire Council is required to appoint a principal contractor to construct the Upper Garnock Valley Flood Protection Scheme. The purpose of this scheme is to reduce the risk of flooding from the River Garnock and tributaries to the towns of Kilbirnie, Glengarnock and Dalry with the last notable flood event occurring in Kilbirnie in 2008.
