Ad RCUK wishes to invite bids from an exceptional individual, small group or organisation – “the Champion” - to act as a high-profile ambassador and spokesperson for the Programme, nationally and internationally, and to provide strategic input on the direction of the programme. It is expected that the Champion will provide the following services: develop a comprehensive overview of the portfolio of activity accredited to the programme of potential interest to users work with stakeholders to identify research needs and challenges work with researchers, including G.U. Leadership Fellows, to foster a multi-disciplinary approach, adding value to on-going research work closely with all research funders to identify linkages between accredited activities, opportunities to add value to the current portfolio, strategic gaps, and opportunities for new research and/or collaboration promote maximum impact through effective knowledge exchange and translation into practice and policy, infrastructure, skills and international engagement engage with the Global Uncertainties Programme Strategic Advisory Group The Champion will prepare a written report after nine months from commencement, and at 12 monthly intervals thereafter, with additional reporting as appropriate. There is no mandatory requirement for location of the Champion, but there will be the requirement for considerable travel mainly within the UK. The Champion will report to the Theme Leader of the RCUK Global Uncertainties Programme, Ms. Julie McLaren at ESRC, and will be expected to meet on a regular, for example, six weekly, basis. Individuals with EU nationality may find it easier to meet the expectations of interaction with the user community as some projects within the programme may have national security implications. However, this in no way should restrict any organisation with the right skills, experience and approach from submitting a bid. The deadline for submission of bids is 11:00am 25.1.2013. Bid responses will be assessed by a specially constituted panel; shortlisted bidders will be invited to an interview, expected to be held in London between 1st and 8.2.2013.
