Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) has a requirement to identify and appoint a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to provide a three-year term service, with an option to extend for up to a further 1 year, to carry out Minor Drainage Works, including the investigation of and repairs to private sewer drains to be carried out anywhere within the boundary of the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell. The private sewer drains in question will be those drainage facilities and systems that are not maintained by Severn Trent Water Ltd, and for which the Council has a maintenance responsibility. The scope of works required will include camera and manual surveys, excavations and the repair/replacement of pipework and chambers/manholes. The successful Contractor is advised that the works may include working in rear gardens of houses where vehicular access is not available. The successful Contractor will be called upon to carry out works at short notice and the tender rates will reflect this requirement. The Contractor is advised that there is no guarantee given, or implied, that there will be continuous work of any description available during the term of the contract period. The total estimated value excluding VAT for the entire duration of the Contract including all extension options is GBP 1 400 000. This value is based on historical spend data and is intended to be used as a guide only and is not a guarantee of the level of business that will be generated from the Contract. The Contract shall take effect on the commencement date and (unless it is otherwise terminated in accordance with its terms (or it is otherwise lawfully terminated) shall expire at the end of the period as set out in the award letter. The contract is expected to commence on 9.2.2015 and will be for a period of 3 years effective from 9.2.2015 to 8.2.2018, with the option to extend for up to a further 12 month period until 8.2.2019.
