Am Fraunhofer IPMS werden MOEMS (microoptoelectromechanical systems) und MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) für verschiedenste Anwendungen entwickelt und hergestellt. Ein Beispiel für eine solche Entwicklung ist ein Mikrospiegelarray (Abb 1.), welches als Flächenlichtmodulator in Belichtungsgeräten der Halbleiterfotolithographie zur Anwendung kommt. Es handelt sich also um aktive optische Hochpräzisionsbauelemente.
