The University wishes to acquire a precision free form generator with ancillary equipment to enhance the University of Southampton"s optical and semiconductor materials processing capabilities for a number of high-impact projects in the major engineering theme of Quantum Technologies. This system will be integrated into existing lab facilities in the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton and will be Tused to expand the breadth of our manufacturing capabilities to stimulate new research ties across academia and industry via the EPSRC Quantum Hub initiative. The acquisition of this system will enable university researchers to machine micron scaled structures and surfaces, with nanoscale surface roughness in optical and semiconductor materials. This free form generator will allow the fabrication of new devices that will tackle fundamental research problems in quantum light-matter interactions, quantum sensors, and telecommunications. To help bidders assess at the outset if this is the suitable for them, high level assessment criteria are: Overall weighting: — 40 % technical capability, — 30 % system cost, — 30 % additional criteria (staff technical knowledge and support). Please note that the contract may be extended from one year to cover additional servicing and maintenance options.
