Live Travel News Data Feed Contract

The Transport Direct Internet Portal (www.transportdirect.info) provides integrated journey planning and travel information for both road and public transport journeys throughout Great Britain, along with real-time travel information, mapping and a hand-off to ticket e-retailers. It provides a 'one-stop shop' for anyone wishing to travel in Great Britain, presenting information on the different travel choices available to enable people to make intelligent choices about how and when they travel. The Live Travel News service is a key element of Transport Direct. This provides information about incidents that are affecting those who are travelling now, and those planning to travel in the future. It informs users of Transport Direct about any incidents that might affect the journey that they are about to undertake, in a clear, accurate and unambiguous way and, in the case of road journeys, allows the re-planning of a journey to take into account the reported disruption. The Contracting Authority is seeking to put in place a new contract for the provision of a data feed for the Live Travel News service (subject to approval). The Contractor shall access relevant and up-to-date travel information from a variety of different sources, collate this information and feed it via a specified electronic interface to the Transport Direct Portal. The feed shall be delivered every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The feed shall report both unplanned and planned incidents across the whole of Great Britain covering all modes of transport as far as possible. The Contracting Authority intends to hold an ‘Engage the Market' event in early January 2014 to discuss the requirements for this contract. Interested suppliers who would like to attend this event, must register their interest by emailing Mike Gibson and copy in Debbie Lance. Mike Gibson email: mike.gibson@dft.gsi.gov.uk Debbie Lance email: debbie.lance@dft.gsi.gov.uk The Contracting Authority is looking to award the Live Travel News Data Feed Contract on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender - taking into consideration value for money and the contractor's capacity to meet the requirements. The Contracting Authority reserves the right to amend the scope of the contract at any time; and additionally reserves the right to award part or none of the contract mentioned in this notice. The anticipated OJEU release date is intented for late January 2014.
