Provision of Beds and Pressure Area Care Equipment — Preliminary Market Consultations.

The Trust currently has a Managed Service contract for the planned and ad-hoc rental and maintenance of beds and pressure area care equipment which expires late 2017. This Prior Information Notice is to advise suppliers that we are planning to re-tender this provision, but would initially like to conduct in preliminary market consultation to look at possible procurement model options that may best suit the future needs of the Trust. The Trust is open to considering a range of models that could achieve cost effectiveness, continuous product and service improvements and a lower impact on the environment. It is keen to engage with a market that is able to offer the flexibility to meet the changing needs of the patient population and it welcomes the opportunity to explore innovative solutions. Equipment and services that could be required (as either core or optional) include; hospital electric profiling beds; e.g. very low beds, specialist therapy beds, birthing beds, bariatric beds, critical care beds, extra-long beds, paediatric beds and cots; mattresses, e.g. static foam and pressure relieving mattresses and accessories; repair, maintenance and PPM; education and training; clinical support; equipment decontamination; delivery; collection and storage; 24 hour service. A Preliminary Market Consultation document is available on request from susan.postlethwaite@imperial.nhs.uk. This document includes a summary of the Trust and the requirement. It also contains a questionnaire for suppliers to complete on a voluntary basis. The date set for the return of the questionnaire is noon on the 19.12.2016. Further consultation may follow either by way of an open day or by electronic correspondence and teleconferencing. The Trust will seek to engage with as many suppliers as possible, but if over-subscribed reserves the right to restrict numbers to a proportionate number in relation to the market size. By conducting in pre-market engagement in preparation for the procurement, the Trust does not guarantee that a Call for Competition will follow as outlined.
