Havforskningsinstituttet (HI) [the Institute of Marine Research] has developed and used methods to analyse microplastics in complex environmental samples such as seafood, plankton and other marine biota, fish food and bottom sediments using micro FTIR. It is the intention of HI to establish monitoring and research on microplastics in complex environmental samples within HI's area of responsibility. The Institute of Marine Research intends to procure the rapid chemical imaging system Spero T from Daylight Solutions via their Scandinavian distributor MG Optical Solutions GmbH. The Institute of Marine Research will not sign a contract with the distributor before 10 days at the earliest after the announcement date.
