The City of Edinburgh Council wish to enter into a restricted procurement procedure with suitably experienced design and build contractors, leading to a final contract award for the Water of Leith Flood Prevention Scheme Phase 2. This phase of the programme consists of the construction of flood defences over a distance of 1 km along the Water of Leith at Murrayfield in Edinburgh City Centre. The awarded contractor will be required to provide all works necessary to complete the flood prevention scheme in accordance with the requirement of the City of Edinburgh Council including structural walls and earth embankments, approximately 1 300 m and 600 m respectively with associated flood gates and provision of pump stations to assist with drainage on the dry side of the wall. These works also include the demolition and removal of 4 bridges and the provision of 2 new bridges over the river. Ancillary works include utility diversions, drainage, reinstatement of roads, hardstandings, footpaths, hard and soft landscaping. The Council wishes to award this Contract to the most economically advantageous tender in terms of the criteria stated within the specifications and the procurement documentation. The Council will wish to seek Community Benefits and Engagement as a result of this awarded NEC 3 Style Contract.
