The UK's Parliamentary Archives function is considering options for the development of a holistic online archive management platform. Potentially utilising our existing Axiell CALM database, we wish to investigate enhancements to both our internal work-flows and public facing online services including around the following areas: — Barcoding, tracking and retrieval system; — Online user registration; — Customer accounts; — Online document ordering; — Online search room seat booking; — Online ticketing options; — Online payment options; — Online search/browse access to catalogue information; — Online access to images and other data types from the archive (digitised and born digital content); — Geospatial search interfaces. The Parliamentary Archives holds several million historical records relating to Parliament, dating from 1497, and provides a current records management service for both Houses of Parliament. The collections are in a number of traditional archival formats and also include both digitised and born digital material, preserved within a digital repository. These collections are currently catalogued using an Axiell CALM database which can be searched on line at http://www.portcullis.parliament.uk/ We expect the online system will be required from early 2017. In line with Parliament's ICT cloud first policy, we will be considering a cloud-based solution, although other solutions will be considered. We would like to hear from potential suppliers and software developers with experience of working with archives and collection management systems who may be interested in this potential requirement.
