NIR operates a fleet of 23 CAF Class 3 000 units and 20 CAF Class 4 000 units. NIR also operates in partnership with Irish Rail, 4 ‘Enterprise’ units. These comprise De-Dietrich coaches powered with a GM 201 class locomotive. While carriages of the train are equipped with wheel slide prevention (WSP) equipment currently the train is not equipped with any form of wheel rail adhesion enhancing sanding systems for either traction or braking.
