This notice is a Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC). Radiological and Environmental Monitoring (REM) equipment is deployed around most of ITER site and equipment located in the reactor buildings are classified as nuclear safety important components (PIC-SIC) requiring qualification for operation in the ITER environmental conditions. A Framework contract is planned to be implemented in around two years for formal qualification and supply of REM. Considering the limited information today available on performance of off-the-shelf REM instrumentation in static magnetic fields (SMF), F4E is performing REM “SMF testing campaign” directed to REM Manufacturers in the European Union in order to assess the current market. The objective of this testing activity is also: -To provide F4E insights into potential qualification issues and allowing to develop a suitable procurement strategy for the future framework contract. -To give Manufacturers some more time to define any customization strategy that may be needed for their products and to be ready for the formal qualification exercise. F4E offers REM Manufacturers a possibility to perform SMF testing at the SMF facility at the ITER site (Cadarache, France) by the end of 2024 under following conditions: -Use of the ITER facility is free of charge for Manufacturers. -Manufacturers will provide the instrumentation free of charge and will remain the owners of the units. No liability on F4E or IO in case the instrumentation is damaged in the tests. -Testing duration of each campaign is expected to be around two weeks, and Manufacturer Staff is expected to be at ITER site handling the instrumentation. -Maximum SMF will be 50 mT. -The results of the tests will be shared with F4E and IO. The level of details that can be shared and other organization aspects of the testing will be defined in an agreement among the parties before starting the activity.
