Please note that this is not yet a call for competition. The Council has a legal obligation to provide post-mortem (PM) and mortuary facilities under the Coroners and Justice Act (2009) working closely with the Lincolnshire HM Coroner's Service. Of the deaths reported to the Coroner, approx. 1 300 each year require a post mortem, equating to 40 % of reportable deaths. The requirement will be to provide post mortems and associated mortuary facilities for: • 1 300 – 2 000 PMs per year (requires flexibility to increase numbers in the event that there are adjustments to the Lincolnshire Coronial Areas); • histology and Toxicology where required; • provision of PM reports; • swift turn around times to ensure that the deceased are returned to Lincolnshire in a timely fashion. The Council is seeking views on the feasibility and current capacity and ability to provide a number of services relating to post mortems and mortuary facilities.
