Request for Information (RFI) For Blank Ammunition Replacement System (BARS) The blank ammunition replacement system (“BARS”) is meant to replace the use of current blank ammunition in hand-held weapons completely in training with safer and more cost-efficient solution. Current types of blanks (=balsa-wood bullet with real gun-powder in a real brass casing) has been used to “simulate” the firing of the weapons in combat-training for decades. The BARS-systems are either issued to each of the trainees as a part of their personal equipment (same way as we issue them with personal weapons and “blank firing attachements” nowadays) or selectively by exercise as a part of their equipment (like the actual blank ammunition nowadays).
