Trauma Rehabilitation in Ukraine (TRUE) - Inception Phase 01.12.2024 – 31.05.2025 / Phase I 01.08.2025 – 31.07.2029

In Ukraine, the consequences of war have led to an increased number of patients requiring physical rehabilitation, mental health and psychosocial support, including access to assistive devices and technologies. The proposed intervention is focusing on the increasing needs and the key challenges the rehabilitation sector is facing today: inadequate policies and poor coordination between different stakeholders; fragmented financing mechanism; gaps in workforce education; insufficient data for decision-making; barriers in access to services and assistive devices. The proposed project aims at improving the quality of care and physical rehabilitation outcomes for people with disabilities in Ukraine by (1) supporting the implementation of reforms in the physical rehabilitation sector through improving policies and framework conditions, (2) strengthening the capacities of the rehabilitation workforce and piloting multi-disciplinary, integrated, community-based models of rehabilitation and (3) raising awareness on the rights of people with disabilities, reducing stigmatization and promoting (economic) inclusion in society.
